marking my words

tinkering with my digital workflow

Rediscovered mymind randomly today. I was curious on how to implement it into my personal knowledge management last year but I hadn't yet built this writing practice and refined more of my taste to know what I was really even looking to save in the first place.

Now that I have a more clear direction on what I want to create and what mediums inspire me, mymind would be a good addition to trigger inspiration through its visually aesthetic cards. It's quite refreshing to open it up and be greeted by all the pretty and poetic quotes, articles, images, colors that I have collected so far.

It's also a great bookmark capture, with a click of a button I'll be able to save many other blog articles, forum topics, and more that I've been dwelling lately on the tiny web / web revival movement.

What's the difference of mymind vs Pinterest? mymind follows the path of being independently built and own, with the motto to keep all data private forever, no tracking, no ads, no switch and baiting. It follows the same notions of web revival -- I suppose it was actually my first exposure to the tiny web ethos without realizing it.

(I'm not sponsored by mymind by the way, just heavily intrigued by it! Though signing up with my link might give us extra features for free?)

The biggest gripe I have with it right now is when saving Bear Blog posts into it, it shows the thumbnail as the Bear Blog icon in an overstretched, out of resolution kind of way. Talk about an eye-sore in an otherwise very beautiful design. I reached out to the mymind customer service team to see if that can be customized if I decide to upgrade to a paid plan. We'll just have to wait and see how that goes!

Despite being relatively low on spoons still, I managed to successfully replace the fried Intel 13th gen CPU on my husband's PC with a brand new Intel 14th gen CPU. It's been awhile since I've built PCs, so opening up the iBuyPower prebuilt and seeing all the cable management and zip ties applied really made the process a bit longer than I thought.

I mentioned in my 2nd blog post about lending my gaming PC / streaming rig to my husband while his workstation was out of commission. I have been living and working off of my trusty Macbook Air M1 2020 laptop for over 2 weeks now, and I'm honestly going to miss MacOS.

To remedy this, I decided to get a KVM switcher so I can switch between my Windows PC and my Macbook Air and have the best of both worlds. It's really surprising how the environment of a place, whether it is physically, digitally, or even spiritually, can affect your mood, mindset, and energy.

When I'm in the MacOS, I tend to feel much more eager to create and experiment. Hopefully, after my time away from Windows, I can establish new, healthy habits with my workflow and playflow there. I used to be a full-time streamer back in the day, partnered by playing Dead by Daylight. After streaming games for so long, I developed a sense of guilt every time I gamed off-stream. I felt like if I'm going to game, I might as well hang out with friends and the channel. Might as well chat it up and make memories and increase my chances of receiving subs and $ tips.

While part of me wishes I never stopped streaming, another part knows I needed to step away from it to heal that hustle mentality. Many of us know the troubles of monetizing our hobbies and our art, and it didn't take long for me to burnout from what used to be my favorite way to relax and decompress.

Now that I've grown a lot (secret code for made a lot of mistakes, fucked around and found out, and sat in several years of therapy, coaching, and mentors), I'm becoming quite confident that I can set a sturdier foundation for my creative and spiritual callings.

Although I'm still quite stressed and anxious as a person, now I have more tools in my toolkit to find calm in the chaos. I catch myself taking a lot more breaks lately, taking moments for deep breathing, silent meditations, and even just taking a brief walk outside.

Welp, I don't have much more time to write and edit as dinner is about to be enjoyed.

Wishing you a great week ahead, happy almost April!

Thanks for being here.

Sincerely,

Nadine ♥︎
