chasing creative channels
When the creative juices are flowing, everything tastes exquisite and brand new.
It's apt to enjoy so many pleasures on Friday, the day of Venus, as she savors the luxuries and sensual enjoyments of living.
Let's start off by listing the locations I have written, filmed, recorded, and joined a Zoom call today:
- The library
- The park
- My usual work desk
- The inside of my closet
- The passenger seat of my car
It's unfortunate to leave my writing to the very end of the day, as I want to squeeze more deliciousness out of the flowing creativity today.
The following will be a hurried recap before I go off to a late dinner!
After forgetting about my initial sign-up of Kundiman, I was delightfully surprised to receive an invite to my region's first virtual book club event.
The book: World of Wonders by Aimee Nezhukumatathil
What's even more fun was I got to rendezvous with the event organizer to pick up a donated copy of the book. I'll treasure and keep it forever. (Well, until I die, that is).
While I didn't get to finish the book before the virtual book club today, it turns out none of the attendees finished either! I suppose it was too short notice for everyone, since the initial email was exactly a week ago.
It made for a fun twist where the hosts switched gears to reading an excerpt from the book, we all took turns popcorn reading a short essay, and then went through a writing exercise together and shared our work.
A virtual book club and a live creative writing exercise with community? I have accidentally stumbled into something that I didn't know I loved and now, naturally, will hunger for.
I note this a growing desire to host my own virtual book club or some form of intimate virtual container someday.
Let's not gloss over the book and Aimee Nezhukumatathil's writing -- her voice and lived experiences resemble so much of my own. This collection of poetic essays was the first of its kind I've ever encountered, and I really dig it. I might be inspired to attempt my own.
Another note to share: I recorded my first vlog today! The verdict is still pending if I will actually upload it. It needs some light editing, and the guts to not cringe at myself. "Why did I say that so weird? Gosh, I sure ramble a lot. AHHH, fix your hair, the wind whipped it onto my upper lip!"
(Inspired to go for it with vlogging by Borb's Blog and his vlogging endeavor.)
That's all the time I have to write for today's post! Apologies for such an abrupt and short entry. I'll try to capture everything that happened today in tomorrow's post.
Fingers crossed I can fulfill that promise, knowing I have a half-day event to attend tomorrow and surprise guests at the house all weekend
Thanks for being here! ♥︎
Sincerely,
Nadine
